Daldorch House School and Continuing Education Centre is an independent, residential and day, special school managed by The National Autistic Society (NAS).
It is the sixth school to be established by the NAS and is the first 52-week autism-specific residential school in Scotland.
The children and young people have a wide range of abilities, additional support needs and a primary diagnosis of an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). The school provides a fusion of care and education across 24 hours for children and young people from five to 18 years.
As of August 2006, the school will provide continuing education opportunities and supported living arrangements for young people up to the age of 21. In addition the school offers an outreach service.
At Daldorch we offer a range of rich, rewarding experiences for today, which form stepping stones to a positive future, where our young people are prepared for the challenges of modern life, with measures in place to minimise the impact of autism.
Our aspirations are entirely in line with A curriculum for excellence, the Scottish Executive Education Department response to the National debate on education. We wish our children and young people to become:
With this set of skills young people can flourish in the real world. In the same way the Daldorch experience offers learning for life - 'a stepping stone to a positive future'.
